Ziomara Ochoa

Ziomara Ochoa is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and currently serves as the Clinical Services Manager overseeing the Coastside Community Service Area, which provides adult and youth mental health outpatient services to the Coastal Community of San Mateo County (SMCO). She also oversees the only county run Level 14 Youth Residential Treatment Facility, Canyon Oaks Youth Center in Redwood City. Ziomara has been with Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) for 12 years and has been in the field of mental health for over 24 years.

Ziomara has a special place in her heart for working with youths and families, impacting policies and programs to improve the delivery and quality of care to this population. Ziomara has a passion for working on issues related to health disparities and equity. She is a Cultural Humility Trainer, trained under Dr. Melanie Tervalon. She provides Cultural Humility Trainings within the BHRS system, community based organizations, and BHRS partners. She has been a Co-Chair for Latino Collaborative, one of the 8 Health Equity Initiatives under the Office of Diversity and Equity with BHRS. Ziomara has also served as an Adjunct Professor for San Francisco State University’s Graduate Counseling Program, courses including Social and Cultural Issues in the Mental Health System, Couples and Family Therapy, and Theories of Counseling.
